Aim

The goal of “Mouvement & Handicap” is to provide simultaneous recordings of complex human behaviors: eye, gaze, head, arm, hand, posture, gait, complex actions and whole body motion can be synchronously recorded. The most important and innovative methodological features rely on user-friendly custom software dedicated to the acquisition and stimulation with real-time feedback. Data acquisitions include: 3D multi-joint trajectories (Optotrak®, Motion®, Vicon®, Bird®, Certus®), eye movements (EOG, Eyelink®, Visage®), electrophysiological activity (EMG), postural (force plate AMTI®) and behavioral responses (touchscreen, keypad). Real-time signal processing (few msec) allows an online modification of various stimuli: visual (video, light-emitting diodes, shutter goggles), object displacement (torque motors, motorized glasses), electro-stimulation, neuro- stimulation (TMS).

Expertise Fields/Skills

. Exploring physiological and cognitive brain processes during human perception and action.
. Quantifying movement, cognitive and perceptual disorders in various neurological and orthopedic conditions.
. Providing decision tools for clinicians (ortheses, botulin, surgery,…)
. Assessing spontaneous evolution and effect of various therapeutic interventions (behavioral therapy, physiotherapy, surgery…)
Projects
Methodological development: designing new technological solution with multimodal movement analysis,
Basic research: understanding normal and pathological brain functions in the field of space and action cognition,
Clinical research : implementing clinical trials for the development and evaluation of innovative therapeutic interventions,
Clinical applications: providing evidence-based procedures for evaluation / diagnosis and rehabilitation.
